Inspirational Stories: Going the distance

To celebrate her milestone 90th birthday, Conny Stamhuis decided to participate in the 2.1-kilometre Okanagan Across the Lake Swim in Kelowna, British Colombia.  

Conny pledged to raise $10,000 for MSF’s medical humanitarian work. A nurse by profession, Conny had hoped to one day work for MSF. Although her life took other turns, Conny was committed to supporting the organization’s work.   

Dr. Keith Brewster, who lives in the Kelowna area, was so inspired by Conny’s story he decided to match her efforts with a gift of $10,000 to MSF through his family-created Stober Foundation.  

Conny successfully completed the swim and raised $17,905.92 in support of MSF’s work.
